Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger reached 40,000 passing yards for his career on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, making him the 16th player in NFL history to reach the mark.

Roethlisberger, 33, needed fewer than 1,000 passing yards in 2015 to eclipse 40,000 yards, but an injury in Week 3 left him stuck at 39,969. It didn’t take him long in his return from a knee injury to reach 31 yards against the Bengals and become the first Steelers quarterback to ever reach the milestone, hitting the mark on the first drive of the game.
Four active quarterbacks are ahead of Roethlisberger on the all-time passing list, led by Peyton Manning, who is closing in on passing Brett Favre for the all-time record in passing yards. Drew Brees, Tom Brady and Eli Manning are the only other active quarterbacks with more yards than Roethlisberger.
However, his most prolific passing stats have been late in his career, including his best-ever season in 2014. With one of the NFL's best receivers, Antonio Brown, at his disposal, Roethlisberger racked up an NFL-most 4,952 passing yards, the highest amount of his career, along with 32 touchdowns and only nine interceptions. He has managed to eclipse 4,000 passing yards in four of the last six seasons.
Roethlisberger managed to rack up 720 passing yards, four touchdowns and one interception in the first two weeks before suffering a knee injury and leaving early in Week 3.
