The Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the Dallas Cowboys in a game that is must-win for both sides if they want to keep their dimming playoff hopes alive as they enter the second half of the season.
Cowboys vs. Buccaneers 2015 picks and predictions: Dallas slight favorite to break losing streak
The Cowboys have to survive one more week without Tony Romo.
The Cowboys have lost six in a row and are fading in the NFC East at 2-6. They're scheduled to get Tony Romo back in Week 11, but that might not matter much if the Cowboys lose again this week.
Matt Cassel has been mediocre at best in three starts, completing 61.1 percent of his passes for 623 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions. If there are silver linings on the offense, it's that Darren McFadden is playing well as the new lead back and Dez Bryant looks healthy. Both players will be big factors as the Cowboys try to make a desperate playoff push down the stretch.
The Bucs are 3-5 and in last place in their division, but they have to be encouraged by the development of Jameis Winston. After a rough start to his rookie year, Winston hasn't thrown an interception since Week 4 and looks more comfortable in the pocket. He's also hoping to get back tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins, who has been out since Week 2 with a shoulder injury.
One of the more bizarre trends of the Lovie Smith era has been the inability to win at home. The Bucs went 0-8 at Raymond James Stadium in 2014 and are 1-3 this year. That’s something they will need to correct if Smith’s Bucs hope to be serious contenders in the NFC South someday.
Most experts have this game as a push, with a slight edge to the Cowboys. At CBS Sports, it’s an even 4-4 split between the Cowboys and Bucs. Here at SB Nation, four of our seven experts picked Dallas, with three going for Tampa.
