Teddy Bridgewater cleared after concussion, will start vs. Raiders

Bridgewater took a bad hit last week, but he’s been cleared to play against the Raiders in Week 10.

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has been cleared for the team's Week 10 road game against the Oakland Raiders. Bridgewater suffered a scary hit last week and had to go through the league's concussion protocol, but the team announced he has been cleared and he will start on Sunday.

Bridgewater took a big hit from St. Louis Rams cornerback Lamarcus Joyner while giving himself up on a slide. The incident angered head coach Mike Zimmer, who called out Rams defensive coordinator Gregg Williams after the game. Joyner was fined but not suspended for the hit.

Bridgewater participated in full in Friday’s practice session.

Before leaving last week’s game, Bridgewater completed 13 of 21 passes for 144 yards and an interception. On the season, he’s completing 64.2 percent of his passes for 1,670 yards, six touchdowns and six interceptions, throwing for 7.2 passing yards per attempt.

Bridgewater has been relatively quiet in his second season, but with Adrian Peterson and the defense having strong performances, the 6-2 Vikings haven't asked too much of him. He could have one of his best games of the year against the Raiders' league-worst pass defense.
