Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was benched and replaced with Brock Osweiler during the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Manning did not appear to be injured. He finished the game going 5-for-20 for 35 yards, four interceptions and a career-worst 0.0 passer rating.

Manning struggled mightily against the Chiefs, throwing four interceptions.
The Broncos went on to lose, 29-13. After the game, head coach Gary Kubiak gave Manning a vote of confidence, saying, “if he’s healthy and ready to go, Peyton is our quarterback.“
Manning has a torn plantar fascia in his right foot, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Manning was previously dealing with plantar fascitis, but his condition has now worsened. We may be seeing more Osweiler in the future.
Manning has played very poorly this season, and he continued that poor play against the Chiefs on Sunday. The 39-year-old quarterback was expected to decline, physically, but his biggest mistakes were of the mental variety.
Manning now has 17 interceptions on the season to lead the NFL. He tossed 15 interceptions all of last season, to go with 39 touchdowns. The year before that, he had 55 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions. Manning has now thrown an interception in every game this season. Despite Manning’s struggles, however, the Broncos were 7-1 heading into Sunday’s game.
Osweiler has been in the league since the Broncos took him with a second-round pick in 2012. He has played in 13 regular season games, completing 17 of 30 passes for 15 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions.
