Emmanuel Sanders active for Week 10 game vs. Chiefs

Sanders will play on Sunday despite an ankle injury that had him listed as questionable.

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders is officially active for Sunday’s Week 10 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The 28-year-old will try to give it a go despite dealing with an ankle injury.

Sanders suffered the injury in last week’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts, but he finished the game. He did not practice at all this week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. Sanders was expected to be a game-time decision and is suiting up after pregame warmups. He hasn’t missed a game since the 2011 season.

A longtime slot receiver with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Sanders signed with the Denver Broncos in 2014 and exploded for 101 catches, 1,404 yards and nine touchdowns. He continues to be a big part of Peyton Manning’s offense, securing 46 catches for 639 yards and four scores in eight games this season. The Broncos will need Sanders to continue producing at a top level as they make a push for a first-round bye in the AFC playoffs.

The Chiefs are No. 23 in the NFL in pass defense and No. 11 against the run, so an aerial attack is certainly a possibility for the Broncos, although snaps for Sanders may be limited. According to James Palmer of NFL Network, Sanders had to plead with coaches to be activated for the game and may see fewer snaps than usual.
