New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman's season is jeopardy because of a broken left foot he suffered during Sunday's win over the New York Giants, Fox Sports' Mike Garafolo reports. Edelman caught a pass to convert a third down, but he limped off the field after the play. Garafolo reported that Edelman hurt his fifth metatarsal, and could return for the playoffs.
Julian Edelman’s season in doubt with a broken foot, according to report
Julian Edelman has been one of the best weapons on a prolific Patriots offense.

Edelman eventually went to the locker room after play, and the Patriots soon announced his return as questionable. He did not come out with the team after halftime and the team confirmed that he would miss the rest of the game.
Edelman had already caught four passes for 53 yards when he went down with the injury at the start of the second quarter. Edelman is New England's top wide receiver, catching 57 passes for 639 yards and seven touchdowns this year. He's just behind tight end Rob Gronkowski, who has 693 yards.
Behind Edelman, the Patriots have Danny Amendola and Brandon LaFell at the receiver position. Both have had their moments this year, with Amendola catching 30 passes for 324 yards and a couple touchdowns. LaFell has just 174 yards on the season. The Patriots will likely go with two tight ends even more than usual with Edelman on the sideline.
The Patriots offense seemed to bog down after Edelman’s injury before reigniting in the fourth quarter. They remain undefeated, but Edelman’s absence will be palpable.
