The Jacksonville Jaguars are hoping to take advantage of a wounded Indianapolis Colts team and make some noise in the AFC South. First, they will have to get past the Tennessee Titans at home on Thursday Night Football.
Titans vs. Jaguars 2015 picks and predictions: Experts favor Jacksonville on Thursday night
Most experts are picking the Jaguars to hold off the Titans and keep their momentum going in the AFC South “race.”
Jacksonville is 3-6 on the season after a bizarre win over the Baltimore Ravens. Baltimore appeared to give the game away when Elvis Dumervil got flagged for a facemask penalty on Blake Bortles, giving the Jaguars one more play with no time left. However, the referees missed a false start by left tackle Luke Joeckel that should have ended the game with a 10-second runoff. The Jaguars kicked a field goal and won.
Heading into Thursday night, the Jaguars have injury concerns on offense. Wide receiver Allen Hurns has an abdominal injury and running back T.J. Yeldon is dealing with a foot ailment. Both men are expected to play but will be at far less than 100 percent on a short week.
The Titans are coming off a home loss to the Carolina Panthers that dropped them to 2-7. The biggest story of that game had nothing to do with actual football, but with the Titans’ unhappiness over Cam Newton dancing in the end zone.
As for the on-field product, Tennessee continues to look like a young, rebuilding team not going anywhere soon. The offense is still stuck in neutral, ranking 30th in yards per game and averaging just 18.8 points per game.
Unsurprisingly, the Jaguars are comfortable favorites among NFL experts, with seven of eight writers at CBS Sports picking Jacksonville. Here at SB Nation, we have three experts willing to pick the Titans, but it’s still a 5-3 edge to Jacksonville.
