Chiefs vs. Chargers 2015 picks and predictions: Kansas City should extend winning streak
The Chiefs have won their last three games and experts generally agree they’ll win their fourth on Sunday.
Parity and Peyton Manning’s and weak arm have left the door open for the 4-5 Chiefs. The Chargers, at 2-7, don’t factor much into the playoff picture in the AFC West but they’d like to score the win over their divisional rivals on Sunday.
It will be a tough out for Philip Rivers and the Chargers offense, though. Wide receiver Keenan Allen is out for the season and Malcom Floyd, who has come up big in Allen's absence, is expected to miss the game with an injury. That would make backup running back Danny Woodhead the leading receiver expected to play on Sunday. Woodhead is second on the team with 45 catches for 521 yards and three touchdowns.
Allen was having a great season before he went down with an injury, compiling 725 yards and four touchdowns. Floyd has caught three touchdowns and looked good in his last time out. Both Ladarius Green and Antonio Gates, the top two tight ends, are dealing with injuries as well and either could miss Sunday's game.
The Chiefs, meanwhile, have some momentum. They have won their last three games, including a dominant win over the Detroit Lions and big wins over tough competition in the Pittsburgh Steelers and the rival Denver Broncos.
They have a long road to unseating the Manning-led Broncos atop the division, but with games against San Diego, the Buffalo Bills and the rival Oakland Raiders coming up on the schedule, they have a great shot. The toughest games remaining on their schedule are two games against Oakland.
Six of the eight experts at at CBS Sports are going with the Chiefs and everyone at ESPN other than Seth Wickersham has Kansas City as well. There's no consensus at SB Nation, with four going with the Chiefs and three going with the Chargers.
