The NFL announced the three games to be played in London in 2016, including first-ever trips across the Atlantic Ocean for the Indianapolis Colts and Cincinnati Bengals.
Washington could become 1st NFL team to play back-to-back games in London
The NFL’s 2016 slate of games in London could feature back-to-back games overseas for one team.

Washington will also make its London debut, although it's possible that the team could spend Weeks 7 and 8 both in the United Kingdom. While the St. Louis Rams will host the first-ever NFL game at Twickenham Stadium in Week 7, the announced opponent is just an NFC East team. The only NFC East opponent on the Rams' schedule in 2016 will be the team that finishes in the same place in the standings as St. Louis does in NFC West.
So, if Washington finishes third in the NFC East, for example, and the Rams also finish the third, the two teams would face each other on Oct. 23, one week before Washington plays the Cincinnati Bengals at Wembley Stadium on Oct. 30.
The full slate of 2016 games to be played in London:
| Week | Date | Game | Venue |
| 4 | Oct. 2 | Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars | Wembley Stadium |
| 7 | Oct. 23 | NFC East team at St. Louis Rams | Twickenham Stadium |
| 8 | Oct. 30 | Washington at Cincinnati Bengals | Wembley Stadium |
The Jaguars will play in London for the fourth consecutive season, but will play a divisional opponent for the first time. A 2015 matchup between the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins was the first divisional game in the history of the NFL International Series.
“The passion our UK fans have shown for the NFL is overwhelming,” said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in a release on Wednesday. “We are very appreciative of the strong and growing fan support, not only for the games, but for all of the related NFL events we host in the UK throughout the year. We look forward to welcoming new fans to their first NFL game in 2016 and welcoming back thousands of others that are helping our sport grow to new levels of popularity in London and beyond.”
The NFL first began playing games in London in 2007 and expanded to multiple games per year in 2013.
