The Philadelphia Eagles will start Mark Sanchez for a Thanksgiving game against the Detroit Lions, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. Sam Bradford is still out dealing with a concussion and shoulder injury he suffered in Week 10.
Thanksgiving football legend Mark Sanchez gets the start for the Eagles
Mark Sanchez will make his second straight start for the Eagles this week.

Sanchez started his first game of the season in Week 11, but finished with two touchdowns and three interceptions in a 45-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He started eight games for the Eagles in 2014, including a 33-10 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving. He finished the year with 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
Three years ago, Sanchez went down in NFL Thanksgiving lore with the Buttfumble while he was still a member of the New York Jets. The play came to define the downward spiral of the Jets after trips to the AFC Championship in each of the first two seasons with Sanchez at the helm of the offense.
When Bradford is healthy, there’s no guarantee that he’ll get his starting job back from Sanchez. According to Albert Breer, the Eagles offense has suffered in part because of Bradford’s unwillingness to run with the football, something Chip Kelly’s offensive system requires of its signal caller.
Sam Bradford suffered a concussion in a Week 10 game against the Miami Dolphins and sat out Week 11. While he returned to practice for the Eagles on Monday, his reps were limited and the team decided he wasn't yet ready to return on Thursday. He is also reportedly dealing with a separated non-throwing shoulder, although the Philadelphia Daily News said it didn't appear to be bothering him in practice.
