The Oakland Raiders are in the midst of a three-game losing streak, but are still favored over an embattled Tennessee Titans team. After starting the season strong, the Raiders have fallen on tough times and are looking to change their fortunes with a road win.
Raiders vs. Titans 2015 picks and predictions: Oakland favored on the road
Both teams are in the midst of a losing season, but the Raiders have the best shot to turn that around.
Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has shown glimpses of promise this season, but not the past few weeks. His production fell flat against a tough Lions secondary last week, limiting wideout Amari Cooper to just 4 yards -- the first time this season Cooper had less than 40 yards in a game.
Oakland's defense has also struggled, allowing an average 28.7 points the past three games. The Raiders need to work on the pass rush to limit the need for the secondary to come up big -- which they haven't. Khalil Mack has impressed, recording eight solo tackles in Week 11, and David Amerson had four passes defended.
The limited bright spots for the the Raiders’ defense will be beneficial to Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota. Finally healthy, Mariota can get back to forming a cohesive and consistent offense. Despite a lack of wins, he’s shown stability under center, with 13 touchdowns to only six interceptions. If the Titans can establish a run game, they would open the playbook for bigger, downfield shots by Mariota.
Despite an iffy offense, the Titans' defense under Dick LeBeau has greatly improved throughout the season. The defense has recorded at least four sacks in three consecutive games and a total of 31 sacks on the season, tied for second most in the league. Veteran outside linebacker Brian Orakpo has at least one sack in each of the last four games and will look to get after Carr
Most of the experts think Oakland will win in Tennessee. At CBS Sports, the road team is favored by a 5-3 margin over the Titans, while nine of ESPN's 13-man crew also think the Raiders will break their losing streak. Here at SB Nation, our experts agree that the Raiders come away with the win in Week 12.
