The New York Jets have looked like world-beaters at times, and cellar-dwellers at others. Similarly, quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has made some beautiful throws, but has also struggled at other times. Over the Jets’ last two games, Fitzpatrick has completed just 46.6 percent of his passes with four interceptions. The team has lost four of its last five games.
Dolphins vs. Jets 2015 picks and predictions: Experts favor New York in rematch
The New York Jets are expected to beat the Miami Dolphins for the second time this season.
Despite this, the Jets are 5-5 and still well in the playoff hunt. But New York has not opted to make a change at quarterback, sticking with Fitzpatrick. On the season, he has completed 58.4 percent of his passes for 2,199 yards with 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He’ll be up against the Miami Dolphins defense on Sunday.
The first time these two teams met, Fitzpatrick threw for 218 yards and a touchdown with an interception. It wasn’t a great game from him, but Chris Ivory put up 166 rushing yards while Ryan Tannehill threw a pair of interceptions for the Dolphins. That let the Jets take home a 27-14 win, and this time they’ll be hosting the Dolphins in their own stadium.
New York has lost its last two games, falling to the Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans, but Miami just fell to the Dallas Cowboys in their last game. Prior to that outing, the Dolphins beat the Philadelphia Eagles. They are 4-6 on the season, last place in the AFC East. Neither team is really competing with the New England Patriots in the division.
As far as the experts are concerned, most are favoring to the Jets to win the game. Over at CBS Sports, six of the eight experts are picking New York, and 12 of the 13 ESPN experts are also going with the Jets to win it. Mike Ditka was the only one to go the other way for ESPN. Here at SB Nation, there are no such Dolphins supporters, with all seven, plus the OddsShark Computer, going with the Jets.
