Justin Houston suffers minor knee injury in Bills game

Houston left the game in the first quarter, but the knee injury doesn’t seem to be serious.

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston left the Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills with a knee injury after he took a hit to the leg from a teammate. Houston was down on the field for some time before limping off to the sideline, where he was attended to by trainers.

Eventually, Houston was taken to the locker room. The Chiefs announced he was questionable to return to the game with a knee injury, and was eventually downgraded to out.

After undergoing tests on Monday, Houston’s injury appears not to be serious. He’s not expected to miss much time:

Houston is a pivotal component of Kansas City’s defense. He has 30 tackles and 7.5 sacks on the season. He also has a forced fumble and two interceptions. Houston signed a massive six-year, $101 million deal with the Chiefs during the offseason after a career year in 2014. He had 68 tackles and 22 sacks last season.

Since being a third-round pick by the Chiefs in 2011, Houston has 56 career sacks and 264 tackles in 69 games. Houston has more sacks than anyone else on the team.
