The Miami Dolphins fired offensive coordinator Bill Lazor on Monday, according to Thayer Evans of Sports Illustrated, one day after a 38-20 loss to the New York Jets that dropped the team to 4-7. Earlier in the season, the Dolphins fired head coach Joe Philbin and defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle after a 1-3 start.

The Dolphins attempted 58 passes and just nine rushing plays on Sunday.

On Monday morning, the Dolphins confirmed Lazor’s firing.
Lazor, 43, was hired to the position before the 2014 season after one season as the quarterbacks coach for the Philadelphia Eagles. He previously coached quarterbacks for Washington and the Seattle Seahawks.
The Dolphins parted ways with Philbin earlier in the year after they struggled to get things going offensively. With Dan Campbell inserted as interim head coach, the team won back-to-back games with a combined 82 points, but have since regressed back to the offensive production of the beginning of the year. In the last five games, the Dolphins have lost four and haven’t scored more than 20 points in a game.
The decision to fire Lazor reportedly came from Campbell, who hasn’t been happy with the team’s offensive performance in recent weeks, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.
In a Week 12 loss to the Jets, the Dolphins attempted 58 pass attempts with Ryan Tannehill and nine rushing attempts. One week earlier in a loss to the Dallas Cowboys, the Dolphins ran the ball just 14 times, including three rushes by Tannehill.
Taking over for the Dolphins as offensive coordinator is quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor. The 32-year-old coach spent four years as a graduate assistant with Texas A&M before joining the Dolphins as assistant quarterbacks coach in 2012. He was elevated to quarterbacks coach in 2013 and will remain as quarterbacks coach in addition to becoming the new offensive coordinator and play caller. Assistant coach Phil McGeoghan has also been promoted to wide receivers coach.
