The story of Greg Hardy won't go away, no matter how much the Dallas Cowboys and Hardy wish it would. The spotlight was re-focused on the defensive end after Deadspin released police photos of Nicole Holder that detailed the breadth and ferocity of injuries she sustained at the hands of the player. On Saturday night Hardy took to Twitter to express his remorse, which is the latest in a long string of lies.
Greg Hardy expresses regret in his tweets, but not in his behavior

Just had to say I express my regret 4 what happened in past and I'm Dedicated to being the best person & teammate that I can be
— Kraken&theNightmares (@OverlordKraken) November 8, 2015 What precisely is Hardy regretting here? That the incident led to his former girlfriend being covered in bruises? It can’t be that, because every step of the way Hardy has blamed Holder for what happened in 2014, claiming HE was the victim.
“Nicole Holder, I have a welt on my face, she just hit me twice ... she’s trying to hit me with another shoe, I’m behind the bar...I’m not touching her, my... manager’s retaining her. She’s trying to get at me.”
Hardy said Holder swung at him, threatened to kill herself, then threw herself into the bathtub. He said when she hit him, he didn’t hit back.
“I don’t fight,” he said. “I don’t even fight dudes.”
Hardy blamed Holder when he spoke to the NFL:
Greg Hardy told investigators, on the photos: He wasn’t responsible. She attacked him & he protected himself. She was drunk and fell down.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) November 8, 2015 Please, tell us Greg, what exactly did you “regret” last night? This isn’t rhetorical. We’d love to know. Every step of the way you have blamed Nicole Holder and assumed zero responsibility for anything that happened. You were convicted, appealed, paid off your victim to get the result you wanted, and before the ink was dry on the check your lawyers put in a motion to have your charges expunged.
Regret is accepting and internalizing that you have done something wrong, hopefully to use that disappointment to change your path. There isn’t a part of this equation that involves ceaselessly lying and covering up events. It seems Hardy’s “regret” is a lot like his on-field actions, his rap videos or his demeanor -- he doesn’t understand it.
