Marcus Mariota admits that ‘sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good’ after fluky touchdown pass

Too many Saints spoil the broth.

Marcus Mariota threw a pass that should've been intercepted by the Saints on Sunday. The only problem is that the two Saints defenders, Keenan Lewis and Jairus Byrd, ended up crashing into each other in attempting to pick the overthrown pass. Their crash pinged the ball to Delanie Walker, who sprinted 61 yards for the score:

Man, they teach you this stuff on Day 1 of fielding practice. If there’s a really high fly ball or an awful pass thrown by a really bad QB, you need to yell “I GOT IT” so your teammates know to back off.

After the game, Mariota clarified that he was just trying to throw the ball away when Walker managed to catch it.
