Titans vs. Jets 2015 picks and predictions: Gang Green overwhelmingly favored over Tennessee

The Jets need a win to preserve their postseason standing in a tight AFC race, and experts believe they’ll pick one up against the Titans in Week 14.

The New York Jets, under the leadership of new head coach Todd Bowles, are much improved this season. They currently sit at 7-5 and hold the last AFC Wild Card spot, but a win over the Tennessee Titans at MetLife Stadium in Week 14 would help the Jets' postseason odds in a close race. The Jets are coming off of wins over the Miami Dolphins and New York Giants, and extending that winning streak to three games shouldn't be too difficult against the 3-9 Titans.

The Jets are riding high after their win over the Giants in Week 13. The Jets trailed by 10 points well into the fourth quarter and fought their way back to a 23-20 victory in overtime. They’ll look to carry that confidence into Week 14 against the Titans.

The Titans started the season 1-6 and fired head coach Ken Whisenhunt following an embarrassing Week 8 loss to the Houston Texans. On paper, their matchup with the Jets seems like a surefire loss. The Titans have not been eliminated from playoff contention at this point, though they are currently in last place in the AFC South and their chances of winning out and making it to the postseason are slim.

Tennessee is also coming off of a big win in Week 13, snapping an 11-game losing streak at home with a 42-39 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota had himself a day against the Jags, completing 20 of 29 passes for 268 yards, three touchdowns and one interception and adding 112 yards on the ground. The Titans haven't won consecutive games since December 2013, so if they do manage to pull off a win against the Jets on Sunday, it will be a big deal.

Both teams need a win, and the experts believe the Jets will get one. At CBS Sports, only Jason La Canfora and Ryan Wilson are projecting a Titans win. It’s a clean sweep for the Jets at ESPN, while our SB Nation panel is also in unanimous agreement, with all eight experts predicting the Jets to come away with the victory.
