Washington is still in the driver's seat in the NFC East, though they blew a chance at creating some separation last week. They are tied with the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles at 5-7, but hold the tiebreak and would make the postseason if the playoffs started today.
NFL picks and predictions, Washington vs. Bears 2015: Chicago expected to win Sunday
Experts think the Bears will beat Washington, though the latter team is not without supporters.
They took the lead in the division by beating the Giants in Week 12, but they lost to the Dallas Cowboys in their last game. That's huge, because it means the 4-8 Cowboys are now just a game back of the division lead. The NFC East is the worst division in football at this point, but anything can happen when the playoffs get underway, so Washington will be fighting hard.
Washington will be facing the Chicago Bears, who are in third place in the NFC North but still not eliminated from playoff contention. Chicago has won two of its last three games, including a loss in overtime to the San Francisco 49ers in their last game. The Bears have a long way to go to secure a spot in the playoffs, but it starts with a win against Washington on Sunday.
Experts aren’t exactly split when it comes to predicting the matchup, but there are takers on both sides. At CBS Sports, six of the eight experts picking think the Bears will win. The folks at ESPN are also widely favoring the Bears, with 11 of the 13 experts picking them over Washington. Here at SB Nation, it’s a similar breakdown, with six of the seven experts, plus the OddsShark computer, taking the Bears. Only PFT Commenter is dissenting and picking Washington.
