The New York Jets (7-5) are tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC wild card race, and with potentially tough games against the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills still on the schedule, they can't afford to lose Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans (3-9).

Ryan Fitzpatrick and the New York Jets have a real shot at a wild card berth, but they need to beat the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
Despite a huge question mark at the quarterback position and a new head coach in Todd Bowles, the Jets have managed to put some wins together and are well-positioned for a wild card bid with four games to go in the season. They have won their last two games and Ryan Fitzpatrick will have a shot at giving the team their first three-game winning streak in four years.
The Titans, on the other hand, have lost most of their games this season. They put up a huge, dominant win in Week 1, but didn't find their next win until Week 9, when they beat the New Orleans Saints in overtime. Three losses followed that game, including a loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, before they won in Week 13 against those same Jaguars.
So the Titans are coming off a win, a bit win in which they put up 42 points, but they also allowed 39 points and the Jets should be favored in this one. They also have to play the Patriots before the season is up and obviously, they are not in the playoff discussion at this point.
Fitzpatrick, who only had the starting job at the beginning of the season because Geno Smith suffered a broken jaw, has been playing very well this season. He had a huge game against the New York Giants in his last outing, completing 36 passes for 390 yards and a pair of touchdowns with no interceptions. He didn't get much help from his running game as Chris Ivory had just 47 yards on 10 carries.
The Jets won that game, 23-20 in overtime thanks to a Randy Bullock field goal. Fitzpatrick has completed 60.1 percent of his passes for 2,866 yards with 22 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Brandon Marshall is the leading receiver on the Jets, with 1,062 yards off of 83 receptions. He also has 10 touchdowns, while Eric Decker has eight touchdown catches behind him.
Marshall has been a big factor in recent weeks. He had four consecutive 100-yard receiving games earlier in the season, but he went under that mark in four of his previous five games prior to a win over the Miami Dolphins at the end of November. He caught nine of 11 passes for 131 yards and two touchdowns, and against the Giants he caught 12 of 13 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown.
He'll be going up against a Tennessee defense that ranks seventh in the league in total defense. The Texans rank seventh in passing yards allowed, but the Jets may want to depend on Ivory and the running game in this one, given that the Titans hold a No. 16 overall rank against the run.
