Washington vs. Eagles 2015 picks and predictions: Experts split on pivotal NFC East matchup

Jay Gruden and Kirk Cousins are one win away from a division title.

It’s been a long couple of years for Washington’s football team. A 2-4 start this year certainly didn’t help matters. And yet, here we are in Week 16 of the regular season, and Washington, after winning three of its last four games, is 7-7 and just one win away from clinching its second division title in 16 years.

Standing in Washington's way are Chip Kelly' Eagles. Philadelphia, at 6-8, is still in contention for the NFC East title, but will have to knock off Washington on Sunday at home. To do so, the Eagles will have to step up on the defensive side of the ball, where they're allowing an average of nearly 36 points per game over their last five games.

Things won't get any easier for them this week against the red-hot Kirk Cousins, who has thrown 16 touchdowns compared to just three picks over Washington's last eight games. That Eagles cornerbacks Byron Maxwell and Eric Rowe are listed as questionable with injuries won't help matters, either.

This will be the second time this season these two teams meet. In October, Washington topped the Eagles, 23-20. For the Eagles, a loss would knock them out of playoff contention for the second straight year and fourth time in the last five years.

The experts are split on whether Washington can clinch the division Saturday. Over at ESPN, Washington has a slight edge on the 13-man panel. The folks at CBS Sports are favoring Gruden's crew as well, with six of eight pickers going with the road team.

The SB Nation team feels differently, however. Five of our eight experts expect the Eagles to knock off visiting Washington.
