The New Orleans Saints will have quarterback Drew Brees active and in the starting lineup for a Week 16 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, despite a painful foot injury, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Drew Brees will play vs. Jaguars in Week 16 despite torn plantar fascia
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees will play through a torn plantar fascia suffered in a Week 15 loss to the Detroit Lions.

Brees suffered a torn plantar fascia in his right foot in the Saints' Week 15 loss to the Detroit Lions and Rapoport said that sources have told him it's a wonder he's walking, let alone continuing to play. Brees was injured in the second quarter but performed well in the Saints' loss to the Lions, throwing three touchdowns in the second half despite the fact that he was throwing off of his injured foot.
Brees underwent an MRI on Tuesday that confirmed the torn plantar fascia and the results were sent to Dr. James Anderson for review. No information was released on the severity of the injury, but Brees was listed as questionable to play in Week 16. A partially torn plantar fascia is more painful than one that is fully torn. Peyton Manning has been unable to play since Week 10 with a partial tear.
The Saints have been eliminated from playoff contention, and it may be the team's best interest to see what they have in Garrett Grayson, the rookie quarterback selected by New Orleans in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft. Grayson completed 30 of 60 passes for 334 yards and two interceptions in preseason action. The Saints could also deploy veteran backup Matt Flynn against the Jaguars if the foot injury for Brees proves too painful.
Brees, a 16-year veteran, has only missed one game due to injury in his entire career. A shoulder injury sidelined Brees for the Saints' Week 3 road loss to the Carolina Panthers.
