The Minnesota Vikings will look to clinch a playoff spot when they face the New York Giants, who will be without superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. this week. The teams will square off on the penultimate episode of Sunday Night Football.
‘Sunday Night Football’ 2015 live stream: How to watch Giants vs. Vikings online
The Vikings are trying to wrap up a playoff berth, while the Giants are playing out the string after being eliminated on Saturday.
The Vikings are 9-5 and can clinch their postseason spot with either a win, a loss by the Atlanta Falcons or a win by the Seattle Seahawks. The Giants are 6-8 and officially saw their playoff hopes end on Saturday night, when Washington beat the Philadelphia Eagles to claim the NFC East title.
Beckham was suspended one game by the league for his actions against the Carolina Panthers, which included a head-to-head hit on Panthers cornerback Josh Norman. Beckham’s absence will be felt by the Giants, who lack their only legitimate playmaker on offense.
With Beckham out of the picture, Eli Manning could try to get Dwayne Harris and Will Tye more involved, but both players will have a tough matchup against the Vikings’ seventh-ranked pass defense. If there’s one bit of good news, running back Rashad Jennings had his best game of 2015 against the Panthers, reaching 100 rushing yards for the first time all season.
Adrian Peterson has been relatively quiet for the past few weeks and is nursing an ankle injury, but Teddy Bridgewater stepped up his game in a big way. After a valiant effort against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 14, Bridgewater picked apart the Chicago Bears, with four touchdowns on 17-of-20 passing. If Peterson gets back to his dominant ways and Bridgewater continues showing real progress, this Vikings offense should not be underestimated in the playoffs.
