The Green Bay Packers will try once again to get their season back on track when they visit the Detroit Lions at Ford Field on Thursday. Green Bay is looking to avenge its loss to Detroit in Week 10, which was the first time since 1991 that Detroit won a game at Lambeau Field.
Packers vs. Lions 2015 picks and predictions: Experts favor Green Bay in NFC North rematch
The Lions already beat the Packers in Week 10, but most experts are picking the Packers to take the rematch this week.
The Packers have been in a month-long slump that shows few signs of ending. Their latest misery came on Thanksgiving Day when they lost to the Chicago Bears, 17-13, without scoring any points in the second half. Green Bay has lost four of its last five games and fallen behind the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North.
If there’s one positive development for the Packers, it’s the re-emergence of Eddie Lacy. After struggling with injuries and questions about his weight early in the season, Lacy has bounced back with 205 rushing yards in his last two games. The Packers need him to keep up his momentum if their offense is to get out of neutral.
The Lions looked dead and buried at 1-7, but they bounced back to win three in a row, including an impressive pasting of the Philadelphia Eagles on Thanksgiving. Matthew Stafford threw five touchdowns and Calvin Johnson caught three of them. If the duo can establish that connection on a consistent basis again, the Lions are going to be a pesky team and potential spoiler down the stretch.
Despite the Packers’ struggles, many experts predict them to knock off the Lions this week. Seven of eight writers at CBS Sports and three of five here at SB Nation are picking Green Bay.
