Washington vs. Cowboys 2016 picks and predictions: Experts split on NFC East matchup

The NFC East is still a mess.

Washington earned the division title for the NFC East last week with a win over the Eagles, and will now face a Dallas Cowboys team that doesn't have much left to play for this season. With just one game remaining, these division rivals will kick off in hopes of ending the regular season on a high note.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins had a great game last Sunday, completing 31 of 46 passes for 365 yards and four touchdowns -- his third game with four touchdowns this season. The Washington offense seems to be unstoppable, and with DeSean Jackson admitting he's fine getting fewer touches so long as the team wins, Washington seems to be in the right mindset ahead of the postseason.

Last time Washington and Dallas met in early December, the Cowboys narrowly escaped with a 19-16 win that was filled with field goals and very few touchdowns. Since then, Cousins has been on a roll for Washington, and Dallas has had even more issues keeping their quarterbacks healthy.

The Cowboys have named Kellen Moore the starting quarterback for the regular season finale. He took the reins in Week 16 against the Bills because of injuries and the team finished with just six points and another loss. Moore connected on 13 of 31 passes for 186 yards.

Washington could choose to rest up most of its starters in anticipation of the postseason, and with Dallas lacking incentive for the win, this game could be a stalemate. It is, however, still an NFC East matchup and they often get scrappy.

The experts at CBS Sports favor the Cowboys, even though star receiver Dez Bryant’s season is over. Here at SB Nation, the panel is split down the middle, with four choosing Washington and four picking Dallas to win in Week 17.
