The Denver Broncos haven't lost a road game against a divisional rival since 2010, winning 14 consecutive road AFC West matchups. On Sunday, they will have a shot at making it 15 in a row as they face the San Diego Chargers.
NFL picks and predictions, Broncos vs. Chargers 2015: Denver favored to win 15th straight divisional road game
Brock Osweiler should get his third consecutive win in Week 13, at least according to expert picks.
But the Broncos are a much different team than the one that beat both the Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders on the road earlier this season. Peyton Manning is out and Brock Osweiler is starting at quarterback.
That sounds like a downgrade, but it hasn't been. Manning was struggling before he was sidelined with a foot injury, and Osweiler has led the Broncos to wins in his first two career starts, downing the Chicago Bears and New England Patriots. The Broncos lost to the Chiefs in Week 10, but Osweiler came off the bench after Manning threw four interceptions in that game.
Manning completed 59.9 percent of his passes with nine touchdowns and 17 interceptions this year. Osweiler completed 61.3 percent of his passes for 666 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions. Osweiler isn’t blowing anybody away, but he’s in charge of the 9-2 Broncos. Outgunning Philip Rivers is a tall order, but the Chargers are not a good team as a whole. They sit at 3-8 on the season.
As far as experts are concerned, most think the Broncos will come away with a win. Seven of the eight experts at CBS Sports think the Broncos will win, with only Will Brinson picking the Chargers. At ESPN, 12 of the 13 experts think the Broncos will prevail. Here at SB Nation, there is nobody giving San Diego a chance in this game.
