This is something of a must-win game for both teams.

President Obama will address the nation live at 8 p.m., 25 minutes before the start of the game. NBC will cut away to carry the speech, and if it runs long, it could interfere with the game. It will be played as normal and NBC will cut back to it as soon as possible.
If you want an example of how quickly things can change in the NFL, last week the Steelers were 6-4 and seemingly in control of their wild card destiny. After a rough road loss to the Seattle Seahawks, combined with wins by the Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh is suddenly on the outside looking in at 6-5. A 3-4 conference record can be blamed for that, so the Steelers will need to pick up wins like this one to stay in the hunt.
Last week’s 39-30 loss is mostly remembered for Ben Roethlisberger taking himself out of the game late, self-reporting a concussion. Despite some initial confusion over whether Roethlisberger even had a concussion, he passed the protocol and will suit up this week.
The Colts are also 6-5, but their lead on the NFC South is not so comfortable after the Texans won four in a row. Nonetheless, 40-year-old Matt Hasselbeck has yet to lose a game while filling in for Andrew Luck, who is recovering from a lacerated kidney. Indianapolis is one of the more confusing teams this year, going 3-0 in the division and 3-5 outside of it. If the Colts are going to be taken seriously as playoff contenders, they’ll need to show that they can do more than beat up on their weaker divisional opponents.
If you’re into stretched narratives, this is just the second time since Super Bowl 40 that Hasselbeck and Roethlisberger have played each other, and the first time since 2007. Hasselbeck has yet to beat Roethlisberger in his 17-year career.
