Heath Miller out, Danny Amendola returns in Week 13

The Patriots and Buccaneers should have some more production in the lineup this week.

Throughout the season, SB Nation Medical Expert Dr. Ali Mohamadi will provide his insights on the most notable injuries in the fantasy landscape and how they might affect your roster decisions on game day. Here is a look at some key injuries and their impact for Sunday’s games.

The injury bug bit the 10-1 New England Patriots hard in the past several weeks, but Tom Brady will have another weapon back on the field this afternoon when WR Danny Amendola returns from a knee injury. Amendola didn’t even travel to Denver last week after suffering the injury on a long pass play in New England’s Week 11 win over Buffalo. Thankfully for the Patriots, testing revealed no structural damage to the joint. He was able to return to practice on a limited basis this week and Amendola tested the knee prior to Sunday’s game against Philadelphia. With a normal range of motion and no significant pain, Amendola is active.

Tampa Bay tight end Austin Sefarian-Jenkins is ready to return to action after missing the past nine games with a shoulder injury. The Bucs second-year player was off to a hot start before suffering the injury in the team’s Week 2 win over New Orleans. He was initially expected to miss 4-6 weeks but suffered setbacks in his recovery. He was finally cleared for contact in practice this week and held up well. Now he is active and set to provide another option in the passing game for Jameis Winston.

Also on the tight end front, Pittsburgh’s Heath Miller was a late decision prior to the team’s Sunday Night Football matchup with the Colts due to a rib injury sustained last week against the Seahawks. Miller attempted to play through the injury but ultimately was removed from the game due to discomfort. Rib injuries can be extremely painful to play through, and the Steelers elected to deactivate him for the game. Backup Jesse James should get plenty of looks on Sunday.

Although he did suit up last week, Arizona receiver Michael Floyd was clearly not his normal self in the Cardinals’ thrilling win over San Francisco because of a hamstring strain he has been nursing for several weeks. Yet again this week, Floyd practiced on a limited basis this week. He will play in Sunday afternoon’s divisional matchup with St. Louis. Floyd tested the hamstring in pregame warmups, and with no setbacks he is on the active roster.
