St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher announced Frank Cignetti has been fired as the team's offensive coordinator and Rob Boras will take over his duties as play caller.
Rams fire Frank Cignetti as offensive coordinator
Rob Boras will take over the play calling duties for the Rams.

“We thank Frank for his hard work and dedication over the last four years,” Fisher said on Monday. “We wish him the best moving forward.”
Cignetti, 50, took over as offensive coordinator for the 2015 season after serving as the team’s quarterbacks coach in the three years prior. He has previous experience as the quarterbacks coach for the 49ers and Saints, but came to the Rams after serving as the offensive coordinator for California, Pittsburgh and Rutgers over a four-year span.
The Rams dropped to 4-8 with a fifth consecutive loss on Sunday and managed just three points against the Arizona Cardinals. In the last five weeks, the Rams have averaged just 10.8 points per game and finished Week 13 with 212 yards of total offense. The Rams are No. 31 in the NFL in both points scored and yards gained.
“It’s kind of a broken-record thing here with the offense,” Fisher said after the loss to Arizona. “We have to get the offense fixed.”
Boras, 45, has been the tight ends coach for the Rams since the 2012 season and also previously served as the tight ends coach for the Jaguars and Bears. From 2001-2003, Boras was the offensive line coach and offensive coordinator for UNLV.
Next up for the Rams is a home game against the Detroit Lions, who are No. 28 in the NFL in points allowed. The Lions have been much better defensively in the second half of the season, though, posting the team’s three best defensive performances of the season in the last three weeks.
The Rams are expected to start Case Keenum at quarterback after he missed two weeks due to a concussion that was handled about as poorly as possible. Nick Foles, who was benched in November, started in Keenum’s place the last two weeks and has completed just 80 of his 150 passes in his last four starts for 742 yards with zero touchdowns and five interceptions.
