The Tennessee Titans announced Thursday that they have waived veteran offensive tackle Michael Oher. Oher signed with the Titans this past offseason, but finished the year on injured reserve due to a toe injury. His contract was a four-year, $20 million deal.
Titans release offensive tackle Michael Oher
The sixth-year veteran is out after a disappointing first year with Tennessee.

Oher started the first 11 games of the 2014 season at the right tackle spot, but missed the remainder of the year with the aforementioned toe problem. Unfortunately, Oher also struggled on the field, and didn’t immediately live up to the contract that saw him making $5 million per year on average.
His contract included $9.35 million guaranteed provided he remained on the roster for the 2015 season. By releasing him on Thursday, the Titans will not have to pay him $3.35 million in 2015 base salary that would have become fully guaranteed on Friday, as noted by Field Yates of ESPN.
Prior to signing with Tennessee, Oher was drawing plenty of interest on the free agent market. At the time, it was thought that the Baltimore Ravens, the team that drafted him in the first round in 2009, would bring him back if he didn't find a long-term deal elsewhere. He also had visits scheduled with other teams when he signed with the Titans.
