The NFL handed out almost $35,000 in fines for the Super Bowl brawl that erupted in the Patriots end zone as they tried to kill the clock and end the game. Rob Gronkowski told Jimmy Kimmel earlier this week that he entered the fracas because, “Screw it, last game of the year, I’m throwing some haymakers.”
NFL fines Rob Gronkowski for Super Bowl brawl
The NFL gives out some more Super Bowl fines on Friday and puts a dent in Rob Gronkowski’s party bus fund.

Gronk pleaded with Roger Goodell not to fine him, because funds were needed to buy a new party bus. Those pleas went unanswered, and the league hit him with a most random $8,268 fine.
Bruce Irvin, who was ejected for the final few seconds of the game for his part in the fight, will start his offseason with $10,000 less than he planned. There were certainly more than four players doing some shoving on the field, but in total, the league decided to fine two from each team for the incident:
Seahawks
- Bruce Irvin -- $10,000
- Michael Bennett -- $8,268
Patriots
- Rob Gronkowski -- $8,268
- Michael Hoomanawanui -- $8,268
This fine, however, will do nothing to stop the Offseason of Gronk train that is already rolling at full speed just five days after the Super Bowl.
