The Minnesota Vikings acquired wide receiver Mike Wallace in a trade with the Miami Dolphins, the team announced Friday. Miami sent a seventh-round pick along with Wallace, while Minnesota sent a fifth-round pick, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Vikings acquire Mike Wallace in trade with Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins have traded Mike Wallace to the Minnesota Vikings.

Wallace, who is owed $12.1 million in 2015, has failed to produce at an elite level after leaving the Pittsburgh Steelers via free agency for Miami on a five-year, $60 million deal in 2013. Another problem is Wallace being perceived as a bad fit in the team's locker room, showcased by the speedy receiver benching himself in Week 17 against the New York Jets.
With Wallace departed and the potential of Brandon Gibson being released to save $3.26 million, Miami has to find new receivers to surround Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill, entering his fourth season, has led Miami to consecutive 8-8 seasons. Wallace led the team in receiving in 2014 with 862 yards and was second behind Brian Hartline in 2013 with 930.
The Dolphins have the 14th pick in the NFL Draft April 30. Miami will potentially have an opportunity to add an impact receiver with Amari Cooper, Kevin White, DeVante Parker, Dorial Green-Beckham, Jaelen Strong and Devin Funchess all projected as first-round picks.
There’s been some talk that the Vikings are interested in trading wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson. In two seasons with the Vikings, Patterson has 78 receptions for 853 yards and five touchdowns. He’s been a disappointment since the team used a first-round pick on him in 2013.
