The Houston Texans bolstered their wide receiver corps in free agency by adding wide receiver Cecil Shorts, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. The two-year deal is worth $6 million, per McClain.
Cecil Shorts to sign with Texans, per report
Cecil Shorts is moving on with a new team after four years in Jacksonville.

Shorts, 27, played the first four seasons of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who took him in the fourth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. After recording just two receptions as a rookie, Shorts broke out in 2012 with 979 receiving yards in his second season, the most by any Jaguars receiver in the last decade.
However, the addition of rookies Marqise Lee, Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns to the Jaguars in 2014, coupled with injuries, made him an expendable piece for the Jaguars. Both the 2012 and 2013 seasons ended with Shorts on injured reserve, and nagging problems cost him another four games in 2014.
The Texans released wide receiver Andre Johnson earlier this offseason. Johnson was informed he was going to take on a reduced role with the team and was given permission to seek a trade, but was ultimately released. With DeAndre Hopkins set to take on the No. 1 receiver role, Shorts can fill a need on the depth chart behind him.
In 50 games with the Jaguars, Shorts tallied 176 receptions for 2,343 receiving yards with 12 touchdowns.
