Tom Coughlin doesn’t trust Siri, aka ‘the lady in the GPS’

PHOENIX -- Tom Coughlin wants to better understand these kids today ... and that includes their technology.

The Giants commissioned a study to “better understand Millennials,” Coughlin revealed Wednesday morning at the NFL annual meetings. Part of that is connecting with players in that age group through the various technological innovations they’ve grown up with, like the iPhone.

Coughlin said that he and offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo keeping in touch with Offensive Rookie of the Year Odell Beckham Jr. during the offseason. Coughlin and McAdoo both text message Beckham, but Beckham only responds to his OC.

That’s probably for the best. Coughlin’s relationship with his iPhone is tenuous.

“I only know how to text and make phone calls on it,” he said.

There’s a reason for that:

“She never sends you the right way.”

Coughlin tried to use Siri, aka “the lady on the GPS,” and the GPS to get to his 11-year-old grandson’s hockey game one time. At first he got lost, but it eventually got him to where he needed to be.

Upon his arrival, Coughlin thanked Siri, and “the lady on the GPS” told him that he “didn’t need to thank” her ... or it, depending on your relationship with technology.

So began his standoffish relationship with his iPhone and the mysterious female voice that apparently controls it.
