Matt Schaub agreed to a one-year, $3 million contract with the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday, per NFL Media's Ian Rapoport. The 11-year veteran will likely assume the backup role in Baltimore, giving the Ravens an experienced signal-caller in case Joe Flacco goes down next season.
Ravens sign quarterback Matt Schaub to 1-year deal
Schaub hasn’t a started a game since 2013, when he went 2-8 with 10 touchdowns and 14 interceptions for the Texans before getting benched midway through the season.

Schaub, 33, was traded by the Houston Texans to the Oakland Raiders last offseason, but lost out on the starting job during training camp to rookie Derek Carr and threw only 10 passes for the silver and black last year. He was released by the team two weeks ago after he became expendable when the Raiders signed Christian Ponder.
Prior to his lone forgettable season in Oakland, Schaub spent seven seasons with the Houston Texans, starting 88 games and leading the team to its only two playoff appearances in franchise history (2011 and 2012). A two-time Pro Bowler, Schaub’s best season came in 2009 when he led the NFL in passing yards, completions and attempts while throwing a career-high 29 touchdowns.
However, the last two seasons have been a disaster for him. He fell apart in 2013, getting benched after eight games, and barely saw the field in 2014 as the backup to Carr. His passer rating of 70.6 since 2013 is the second-worst behind Blake Bortles among quarterbacks with at least 350 attempts in that span.
