Rodney Hudson agrees to deal with Raiders, according to report

Hudson will reportedly become the highest-paid center in the NFL after he signs with the Raiders.

The Oakland Raiders nabbed a young center for the future by agreeing to a five-year, $44.5 million deal with Rodney Hudson which will become official on Tuesday, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

Hudson, 25, started 35 games in four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs after he was selected in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft. While he started just one game as a rookie and suffered a broken leg in his second season, Hudson started all but one game in the last two years.

The deal, worth an average of just under $9 million per year, will make Hudson the highest-paid center in the NFL, just eclipsing the five-year, $44 million deal signed by Maurkice Pouncey in 2014.

Only the Jacksonville Jaguars enter free agency with more money to spend than the Oakland Raiders, who have $55,125,917 of cap room to work with, according to the NFL Players Association. No deal with impending free agents can be made official until Tuesday.
