Quarterback Ryan Mallett will stay with the Houston Texans after agreeing to a two-year, $7 million contract with the team on Monday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network and John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.
Ryan Mallett agrees to terms with Texans, per report
Mallett will compete with Brian Hoyer for the starting job with the Texans.

Mallett, 26, started just two games for the Texans in 2014 before a torn pectoral sent him to injured reserve in November. He was originally acquired by the team just before the beginning of the regular season via trade from the New England Patriots.
The new deal for Mallett sets up a quarterback competition for the starting job in Houston with former Cleveland Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer, who is reportedly set to sign a three-year deal with the Texans on Tuesday.
Mallett completed 41 of 75 passes for 400 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in his limited time with the Texans in 2014. He attempted just four passes in the three seasons he spent with the Patriots after he was selected with a third-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
