The Houston Texans officially parted ways with Pro Bowl wide receiver Andre Johnson on Monday after 12 seasons, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Texans release Andre Johnson
Johnson was granted permission to look for a trade from the Texans last week, but the team released him after a trade partner couldn’t be found.

Johnson, 33, was granted permission last week to seek a trade and was told he’d be released if no trade partner could be found. While the Texans did not ask for Johnson to take a pay cut, he was reportedly told he would take a reduced role in the Houston offense, which he rejected.
Arguably the best player in franchise history with seven trips to the Pro Bowl (J.J. Watt is second in franchise history with three), Johnson's career with the Texans ends with every major receiving record for the franchise. He is ninth in NFL history with 1,012 career receptions, 12th in receiving yards with 13,597 and 58th in touchdown receptions with 64.
Johnson led the Texans in receptions in 2014, but DeAndre Hopkins managed to record more yards and touchdowns. DeVier Posey, Keshawn Martin and Damaris Johnson are the other receivers still on the team's roster.
