Plenty has changed for Robert Griffin III since he won the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2012. There's a chance he could become a free agent in 2016 and this could be his last chance to stick with the team that drafted him. That's not his focus right now, however.
RG3 wants to make football fun again
Griffin admitted in an interview that football hasn’t been fun during his last two seasons.

In an interview with Jeff Darlington of NFL.com, Griffin said the focus right now is about making football fun again. After posting a 5-15 record as a starter the past couple seasons, the 2011 Heisman Trophy winner just isn’t having the same amount of fun playing the game as he did when he was on top of the football world.
“No, it hasn’t been fun -- but a lot of that is about winning,” Griffin told Darlington. After a dislocated ankle and a trip to the bench cut his playtime short in 2014, Griffin finished with just four touchdown passes and six interceptions while Washington tallied a 4-12 record.
“The more you win, the more fun you have. We can do a better job not hurting ourselves, but I need to focus on what I can control, bonding with my guys, making it more like college, where having fun and putting in the work were both important parts of it.”
There's an option in the contract that Griffin signed as a rookie in 2012 that could allow Washington to cut bait with the quarterback after the 2015 season. With a possible end to his time with the team in sight, Griffin said that it wouldn't be upsetting if Washington elected to move on from the player it traded up to secure in the 2012 NFL Draft.
“I wouldn’t be bummed,” Griffin said. “Either way, we’re going out there to prove it this upcoming year -- not next year. I just want to win. I want to win games and have fun doing it. The rest will take care of itself. They can pick up the option -- or they can decide not to pick up the option. It’ll work out either way. I’m focused on this year.”
Griffin also said he isn’t worried that the team is focused on replacing him in the 2015 NFL Draft and that general manager Scot McCloughan assured him that the team intends to maximize his potential by surrounding him with the best 10 guys they can.
Washington owns the No. 5 selection in the 2015 NFL Draft and most believe the team will use the pick to add a pass rusher.
