2015 NFL Draft: Start time and TV schedule for Thursday’s first round
Here’s how you can watch the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
The 2015 NFL Draft is just about here, with the first round only hours away at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago. For the first time since 1963, the draft won't be held in New York City in some form. It's been at Radio City Music Hall for the past nine drafts, but the venue was booked for the dates the NFL was considering this year.
Though the venue has changed, the NFL is sticking with its most recent format as far as the round breakdowns go. The first round will take place on its own night, starting at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday. The second and third rounds will take place on Friday beginning at 7 p.m., while the fourth through seventh rounds will take place on Saturday and will get underway at noon. Teams will be announcing their draft picks from locations across the country for the third day of the draft.
It should be an exciting first round. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be first on the clock as they had a 2-14 record last season, worst in the league. It's unlikely they'll trade the pick away, with many suggesting the Buccaneers will wind up with a quarterback. Jameis Winston or Marcus Mariota fit the bill, with most leaning toward Winston. There's a lot of speculation that teams will be interested in moving up early on in the first round to get their hands on one of the top wide receivers or one of the aforementioned quarterbacks.
Television coverage of the first round will be carried by both the NFL Network and ESPN, with coverage beginning at 8 p.m. There will be plenty of pre-draft coverage on both networks.
