Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib and his brother are under investigation for their involvement in an aggravated assault that occurred in a Dallas, Texas nightclub early Wednesday morning, according to Rebecca Lopez of WFAA-TV in Dallas.
Aqib Talib under investigation for aggravated assault, per report
Talib and his brother were reportedly questioned and are under investigation for aggravated assault, according to a report.

According to Lopez, Talib and his brother, Yaqub, got into a fight with another party at the club. At one point, a gun was fired. Talib and his brother then left in two separate vehicles. The police tracked them down at a different club and questions both brothers, who were allowed to leave. The pair of vehicles associated with Talib and his brother were towed and are being searched for evidence.
The Dallas Police Department issued a statement after receiving questions about Talib, via Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports. The statement did not identify any of the members involved in the altercation, but called it an “ongoing investigation”:
According to the initial report, the complainant stated there was a disturbance inside the location between three Black males. The complainant stated he attempted to quell the disturbance by assisting security in escorting the individuals out of the bar, at which time one of the individuals attempted to punch the complainant. The complainant stated he attempted to defend himself by kicking one of the possible assailants. The complainant stated as they reached the front of the location someone produced a gun and pointed it at him. The complainant closed the door and took cover inside the bar. Witnesses outside the location observed a Black male outside, fire a round into the air, which caused an immediate panic. All of the involved individuals left the location.
In June 2014, the Dallas Police Department reported that they had arrested Aqib Talib, but later retracted the statement and said that it was the Yaqub Talib who had been arrested.
Talib, 29, has had a few run-ins with the law during his time in the NFL including a 2009 arrest for simple battery and resisting arrest without violence. He was also scheduled to stand trial in 2012 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, but the charges were dropped due to the lack of a credible witness.
Prior to his time with the Kansas Jayhawks, Talib went to Berkner High School in Richardson, Texas, which is in Dallas County. He was selected in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was eventually traded to the New England Patriots in 2012. Talib signed a six-year, $57 million contract with the Broncos in 2014.
