Rise ‘n Grind: Everything you never wanted to know about DeflateGate

It’s the offseason, which means it’s scandal season in the NFL. Fortunately, we’re here to help you sort through the wave of crap so you only have to read the essentials about deflated footballs.

Fine, let’s talk about DeflateGate some more. The NFL is always embroiled in some kind of scandal, much more so than any other professional sports enterprise. This is probably not what the league had in mind when it concocted its plan to thrust professional football in your face for a full 12 months. It’s just the fallout.

It might ultimately prove Mark Cuban right -- people will get sick of the NFL -- but not because of garbage like three-hour primetime specials about the schedule release or Titans games on Thursday nights. Hell, I love football, but right now, I wish it would go away until August.

U MAD BRO: We haven’t heard from Tom Brady yet, but his agent weighed in on Monday afternoon, confirming that his client would appeal the four-game suspension. Patriots owner Robert Kraft also fired a shot across the bow of his best friend Roger Goodell’s yacht in an official statement Monday evening.

REACTIONS: Patriots players were understandably upset ... and they voiced that via social media. The wife of Jets owner Woody Johnson was pleased with the news, and she shared her opinion on social media too, in emoji. Patriots fans aren’t very happy with it either.

READ ONE THING: If you read one thing about DeflateGate, read PFT Commenter’s hot take.

THE OTHER GUY: Who is Jimmy Garoppolo? He’s replacing Tom Brady for a few games, so you should probably get to know him before Dan Snyder swaps a first-round pick for him in 2016.

PLAYOFFS: Brady’s suspension could shape the postseason race in a conference with razor-thin margins. But let’s not get carried away with dire predictions, like the Dolphins winning the AFC East.

JUST WIN, BABY: Don’t look now, but the Oakland Raiders have a core group of players who are pretty good at football. How soon does that translate to wins on the field?

EARLY PREDICTION: The Ravens are the favorite -- according to some -- to win the AFC North this year.

NO SPECIAL TEAMS: Do you know why the Texans released safety D.J. Swearinger? He reportedly refused to play special teams.

JONES DRONES: The Cowboys are using drones at practice. Yes, you should be afraid.
