The league has determined the Miami Dolphins did not violate its tampering rules while in pursuit of free agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, according to Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald. Suh officially signed a six-year, $114 million contract early in the free agency period, but the contract numbers were reported well before free agency officially opened.
NFL says Dolphins did not tamper in pursuit of Ndamukong Suh
The league has finished investigating whether or not Miami violated tampering rules in pursuit of defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

It was even reported that Dolphins officials were “nervous” about a potential inquiry from the league. This prompted an investigation into whether or not the Dolphins illegally negotiated with Suh’s agent before they were officially allowed to do so. Teams were instructed to keep all of their phone records for review, according to the report. Whatever the case, the league determined that the Dolphins did not break any rules and will not be penalized.
Miami maintained its innocence since it was announced the league was looking into the matter. The Detroit Lions, Suh's former team, did not pursue any kind of punishment for Miami, according to the report.
Suh's contract is the biggest deal for a defensive player in league history. He's part of a huge free-agent class for the Dolphins that also includes Jared Odrick and Greg Jennings, as the team tries to create some competition with the New England Patriots in the AFC East. This is a crucial year for head coach Joe Philbin, and he'll be glad to know things can proceed without further investigation or any punishment from the league.
