At 6’1 and weighing 304 pounds, Clemson nose tackle Grady Jarrett is a player who is best described as having a “sturdy frame.” That sturdy frame will now be in the NFL after the Atlanta Falcons picked Jarrett with the No. 137 overall selection in the 2015 NFL Draft
NFL Draft results 2015: Grady Jarrett drafted by Falcons after trade
The Atlanta Falcons traded up in the fifth round to grab Grady Jarrett.

Jarrett, a three-year starter for Clemson, was a first-team All-ACC selection in 2014 who brings with him plenty of power and aggression. Scouts noted this year that Jarrett plays through the whistle and is very proficient at timing snaps to give himself the advantage of beating offensive linemen off the ball. His height, which is fairly short for a professional defensive lineman, gives him a leverage advantage in most matchups as well.
At the NFL Combine, Jarrett turned in some solid performances, running a 5.06-second 40-yard dash and putting up 30 reps on the bench press. He added a 7.37-second three-cone drill and a 4.56-second 20-yard shuttle performance.
The Clemson standout added to that showcase by putting up very similar numbers at his college’s pro day with 40-yard dash times of 5.13 and 5.08 and 23 reps on the bench.
In his senior campaign, Jarrett picked up 26 solo tackles and 19 assists while collecting 1.5 sacks for the Tigers. Out of those tackles, 10 were for a loss. He also had two forced fumbles and four quarterback hurries in 2014.
