NFL Draft picks 2015: Kenny Bell taken by Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers took Kenny Bell in the fifth round of the NFL Draft.

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

With the No. 162 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected wide receiver Kenny Bell of Nebraska. Bell has earned All-Big Ten honors three times, making the first team in 2014, gaining an honorable mention in 2013 and making the second team in 2012, the first time he started every game for Nebraska.

Bell was productive at Nebraska, finishing his career with 181 receptions for 2,689 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also managed 51 kick returns for 1,277 yards and a touchdown in four years with the team. His best season was 2012, in which he had 863 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, but he wasn’t too far behind this past year, with 788 yards and six touchdowns.

He was also great at the NFL Scouting Combine in February. Bell ran the 40-yard dash in 4.42 seconds, the three-cone drill in 6.66 seconds, the 20-yard shuttle in 4.15 seconds and 60-yard shuttle in 11.60 seconds. He managed a 41.5-inch vertical leap and a 129-inch broad jump. He was among the top performers in the latter two categories as well as the three-cone drill.
