Best available undrafted free agents, 2015 NFL Draft: Plenty of talent still available

Who will land the best players to not get drafted this year?

The 2015 NFL Draft was a whopping 256 picks deep — tying it for the largest NFL draft since the 2001 and 2002 versions that included extra picks for the expansion Houston Texans. And yet this year, like every other year before it, there will be undrafted free agents who will make contributions to their teams.

Last year, every NFL team passed on the player who would become maybe the most famous undrafted free agent (UDFA) of all time: Malcolm Butler, a cornerback from West Alabama, who signed with the New England Patriots, and made an interception on the goal line to save their Super Bowl XLIX win over the Seattle Seahawks. But he wasn’t the only notable UDFA in 2014, as the Philadelphia Eagles got a Pro Bowl season out of kicker Cody Parkey — who first signed with the Indianapolis Colts as a UDFA — and the Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars got over 600 receiving yards out of undrafted wide receivers Taylor Gabriel and Allen Hurns.

Signing and developing UDFAs can pay dividends, too. The Denver Broncos’ leading rusher in 2014 was Pro Bowler C.J. Anderson, undrafted in 2013; four UDFAs from the 2012 have made at least one Pro Bowl. And the 2009 NFL Draft went by without Arian Foster being selected — six seasons, four Pro Bowls, two All-Pro selections, and one year (2010) leading the NFL in rushing later, it’s safe to say the Houston Texans are glad they signed him as a UDFA.

Here are some of the best players available as UDFAs after the 2015 NFL Draft.
