John Moffitt retired during the 2013 season, but less than two years later the offensive guard is ready to give football another try, according to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports. After a stint in rehab and time to "beat his demons," Glazer tweeted that former Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos lineman is back on the market as a free agent.

That is, he will be if he clears waivers. The Broncos have officially released him, per Glazer, and with fewer than four NFL seasons under his belt before his retirement, Moffitt is subject to waivers but would become a free agent if he goes unclaimed.
Moffitt, 28, had some off-the-field trouble during his brief time in the NFL and those struggles continued after his retirement. In 2012, Moffitt was twice accused of publicly urinating at a mall in Seattle before he was arrested for criminal trespass during a third trip to the mall.
Things spiraled after his retirement, eventually leading to an arrest in March 2014 after he was allegedly caught with marijuana, cocaine and ecstasy, and punched a man in the head. In November, Moffitt spoke to the New York Times about his battle back from the low of his arrest and his changed perspective.
“It was like I jumped off a cliff,” Moffitt said of his arrest and the negative publicity that followed. “Those opportunities fell by the wayside. But it also sent me in a different direction.”
That different direction led him to Glazer, who has worked as a mixed martial arts trainer for several NFL players, including Clay Matthews, Jared Allen and Orlando Scandrick, among others. On Wednesday, Glazer raved about the progress Moffitt has made in the three months and said that "he's become the favorite of every player in our gym."
Moffitt was a third-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft and started nine games for the Seahawks as a rookie, but was suspended for performance-enhancing drugs late in the year. He started another six games for the team in 2012 and was dealt to the Broncos before the beginning of the 2013 season.
