DeVante Parker undergoes successful foot surgery
It’s unclear what the injury is, but Miami Dolphins rookie receiver DeVante Parker had successful surgery on his foot Friday.

According to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, Parker had a screw replaced in his foot, stemming from a broken toe he suffered as a senior at Louisville.
Parker, the team's first-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, is expected back for the regular season opener. If the season were going on now, Parker could have skipped the surgery and play. Parker has been earning rave reviews throughout Dolphins OTAs, so it's possible the Dolphins are confident he can contribute early and often in the regular season.
Miami's depth chart is unsettled at the wide receiver position. The team added Kenny Stills and veteran Greg Jennings in the offseason, in addition to Parker as the No. 14 overall pick. Parker was expected to get plenty of looks as a rookie and this news doesn't seem to affect that, but it does give Stills, Jennings and Jarvis Landry an easier path to earning playing time during training camp.
Parker will be rehabbing with the team and will take part in all offseason meetings.
He'll have a chance to become the Dolphins' No. 1 receiver once he gets up to speed. Landry was second on the team with 758 receiving yards and five touchdowns last season. Stills had 931 yards and three touchdowns with the New Orleans Saints, and Jennings caught 59 passes for 742 yards and six touchdowns with the Minnesota Vikings.
