The Philadelphia Eagles released the team's first depth chart of the season two days before a preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts and Tim Tebow is listed as the team's No. 4 quarterback.
Matt Barkley is beating out Tim Tebow on the Eagles’ first depth chart
The first depth chart of the year for the Eagles has Tim Tebow as the No. 4 quarterback.
Reports of Tebow’s performance in training camp have been mixed, with some saying that his roster spot is secure and others noting his struggles to stay consistent. Ultimately though, his place on the team will likely be decided by his performance in preseason.
With limited roster spots to work with, keeping four quarterbacks is extremely rare so Tebow will likely need to prove that he's more valuable than Matt Barkley, the team's fourth round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.
Those who say that Tebow has a strong chance to stay on the team believe that Eagles head coach Chip Kelly didn't bring in the former Denver Broncos starter to just be a backup, though. So if Tebow can show in preseason that he provides some usefulness as a "running quarterback," able to lead a wildcat offense, that could make him a more valuable piece of the team than Barkley, regardless of placement on the initial depth chart.
