The Buffalo Bills -- saddled with sky-high expectations this season to break the league's longest active playoff drought -- are limping into their preseason Week 2 game against the Cleveland Browns Thursday night.

Week 2 of the preseason is here, with the Bills and Browns both looking to rebound from losses last week.

They lost two key defensive players to ACL tears last week, running back LeSean McCoy left Tuesday's practice with a hamstring injury that probably will keep him out of the rest of training camp, and they've got at least a half dozen other players nursing various ailments. The Bills still have a lot of offensive talent with the addition of McCoy, Percy Harvin and Matt Cassel this offseason, but the injuries are a concern.
Staying healthy is obviously a huge key for any preseason game, but a big question remains: who will emerge from a tight quarterback battle to take the field come Sept. 13? The team has three quarterback options in Cassel, EJ Manuel and Tyrod Taylor. With the position competition in full swing, these preseason games will go a long way in establishing a starter.
Cassel started the first game and was efficient in completing 7 of 8 passes for 45 yards. Taylor, who flashed his impressive dual-threat skills last week against the Panthers, is scheduled to take the field as the starter against the Browns. Manuel, however, appears to be the odd man out and his time in Buffalo could be coming to an end after this weekend.
The Browns hosted the Bills for joint practices leading up to their matchup on Thursday night. Getting the week off to an aggressive start, Bills linebacker Preston Brown hit Browns wide receiver Marlon Moore on a play, which wouldn't have been a big deal had Moore not been wearing a red non-contact jersey. The rest of the practices ran smoothly -- although both teams dealt with their fair share of injuries, most notably the Bills' running back and the Browns' defensive backs.
The Browns are still watching quarterback Johnny Manziel develop on and off the field, but the team is also focusing on finding a consistent starter at running back and solidifying the offensive line. Last week, Manziel was the team's leader rusher with 14 yards, and head coach Mike Pettine talked about how the line needs to attack harder. The Bills have one of the best defensive lines in the league, so going against them in the preseason is the perfect way for the Browns to improve quickly.
