After a low-key start to the second week of the preseason that gave us an 11-10 final score and a game that was every bit as exciting as that score implies, there are two more games on Friday night. The Atlanta Falcons visit a New York Jets team that looked lifeless last week, while the Kansas City Chiefs play host to Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks.
2015 NFL preseason schedule: Seahawks hit the road to battle Chiefs on Friday
Friday night brings another light preseason slate with just two games on the schedule, but there are still plenty of storylines to follow and position battles to watch between the Falcons-Jets and Seahawks-Chiefs.

The first game between the Falcons and Jets kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET. Matt Ryan and Julio Jones have looked excellent in training camp for the Falcons, but the real focus here is on seeing signs of improvement on defense, a unit which allowed the most yards in the league last year. The Jets, on the other hand, enter this season projected to be one of the NFL's elite defensive teams, but lack a dependable option at quarterback. Ryan Fitzpatrick played just one series in the preseason opener last week, so look for him and the first team offense to get a lot more reps.
The second matchup on the schedule has the Seahawks traveling east to face the Chiefs at 8 p.m. ET, a game that can be seen on the NFL Network. For the Seahawks, the key position battle is on the offensive line, which remains unsettled after some key offseason departures. The Chiefs and their outstanding pass rush led by Justin Houston will likely give Seattle's offense a tough test.
Below, we've got the full schedule and something to watch for during each game (all times ET, stations via 506sports):
Atlanta Falcons at New York Jets
(Away: WUPA-CW 69 , Home: WCBS-CBS 2) -- NFL Network, 7:30 p.m.
The consensus was that new head coach Dan Quinn's debut in Atlanta last week was a success, and not just because the Falcons picked up a rare preseason win. The starters were impressive, jumping out to a 10-0 lead over the Titans, and the revamped defense looked more aggressive than ever.
Matt Ryan completed all six of his passes in the only series he played, including a touchdown pass to Julio Jones, who looked ready to stake his claim as the best wideout in the league. Running backs Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman both sat out the opener, but returned to practice this week and are game time decisions to play.
The Jets started the preseason with a sloppy effort in their opener -- lots of blown assignments, missed tackles, dropped passes -- so they really need to focus on the fundamentals against Atlanta. The team made a couple of moves this week to shore up its depth, signing veteran quarterback Matt Flynn and claiming tight end Arthur Lynch off waivers. Flynn won't play on Friday, however, so rookie Bryce Petty will again get important reps in the second half.
Seattle Seahawks at Kansas City Chiefs
(Away: KCPQ-FOX 13 , Home: KCTV-CBS 5) -- 8 p.m
The biggest highlight from the Seahawks' preseason opener was the electrifying performance of rookie Tyler Lockett, who had a 103-yard kickoff return and might have nailed down the return specialist job after just one game. The offensive line, however, struggled and is definitely still a work in progress. The Seahawks shook up some of the positions on the line this week in practice, so look to see how the new combinations work in live game action. The secondary is still banged up, too, but Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman did return to practice this week.
The Chiefs want to see signs of progress in the passing game after Alex Smith struggled in the opener last week. He completed 6 of 10 passes for 42 yards with one interception, and it was obvious he's still developing chemistry with wide receiver Jeremy Maclin. Another position to watch is the offensive line, which was was still in an "experimental phase" this week with several injuries to the projected starters.
